Feeding into the discussion of the 5th AU-EU Summit in Abidjan, the Pan African Parliament (PAP) and the European Parliament (EP) held a Parliamentary Summit in Côte d'Ivoire from 27 to 28 November 2017. African and European Parliamentarians called on Heads of State and Government from both continents to reach an ambitious agreement, which opens the door to a better future for young people in the 21st century.
At the end of the two-day Parliamentary Summit, the Abidjan Appeal was formulated, covering eleven priority areas for Africa-EU relations.
The Parliamentarians of the African Union and European Union also formulated a declaration on the trafficking in human beings in Libya wherein they condemned the slavery, torture and humiliating acts that prevail in Libya.
