Fact Sheet on Early Response Mechanism

Tuesday, 23 June, 2015

The Early Response Mechanism (ERM) was established in 2009 to give the African Peace Facility (APF) the flexibility it needs to quickly respond to crises across Africa, by endowing the African Union (AU) and the Regional Economic Communities/Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs) with a source of immediate funding for actions aimed at the prevention, management or resolution of crises.

Since its creation, the ERM has financed 25 interventions related to mediation, human rights, start-up of Peace Support Operations (PSO) and post-conflict efforts.
