  • The project “Support and advice to African public authorities responsible for migration and development initiatives along the migratory route to West Africa” (MeDAO Project), funded by the European Union and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and implemented by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Public Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), carries out capacity building activities in social protection of migrants.

  • A workshop on the sharing and exchanging of experiences for the African Operational Repertoire of Jobs and Professions (ROAME) took place on 2-6 July, 2012 in Cotonou within the framework of the MIEUX programme, a joint EU-ICMPD initiative. It gathered ROAME project managers and experts from Benin, Cameroon, Mali and Senegal, and representatives of the National Employment Agencies of Ivory Coast and Togo, as well as experts from Pôle Emploi France, AFRISTAT and representatives from GIP International and the MIEUX programme.

    The reduction of transfer costs of migrant remittances and the mobilisation of these resources to complement other sources of finance for the development of the African continent have for several years been a subject of increasing interest for the African Development Bank, which has supported several initiatives in this area including the recent World Bank study “Leveraging Migration for Africa”.
