How to develop the African economy without a sufficient infrastructure network? How to better connect Africa and Europe?
On 24 June, in the margins of the adoption by the European Commission Communication on strengthening the African-European cooperation in the transport sector, an informal panel discussion gathered the Commission Vice President, Antonio Tajani, in charge Transport, and Mr. Abdoulaye Wade, President of Senegal and Coordinator of NEPAD.
The discussions were intended to review the cooperation between Africa and Europe in the field of transport and to discuss possible options for the future.
Other speakers included Mr Daniel Kraus, Deputy Director General of Confindustria, the Italian Confederation of Industry, Mr Michel Démarre, President of the European International Contractors, a confederation of European companies in the construction sector, and Mr Karim Ouedraougo, Dean of the Université Libre Internationale, which hosted the event.
