The first Africa-Europe Youth Platform (AEYP) meeting was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from the 4th to the 8th November 2012 in the headquarters of the African Union Commission.
The AEYP meeting was organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe in the frame of the Youth-Partnership between the Council of Europe and the European Commission, in partnership with the African Union Commission and in cooperation with the European Youth Forum, the African Diaspora Youth Network in Europe and the Pan African Youth Union.
More than thirty delegates and guests both from Africa and Europe, gathered to discuss and tackle the topic of ‘Decent Work and Youth Unemployment’ on a thematic seminar held on the 5th November.
The meeting also included a moment of visits to the Ethiopian Youth Federation, the Youth Division of the AU Commission and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
The approval of guidelines of the AEYP, the recognition of the Network of International Youth Organisations in Africa as member of the platform and the creation of three working groups (preparations towards the Africa-Europe Heads of State Summit in Spring 2014; Youth Unemployment; and MDGs-Beyond 2015) were some of the main outcomes of the platform meeting.
The second AEYP meeting is foreseen to be held in Spring 2013.
