Fact Sheet on Capacity Building

Tuesday, 23 June, 2015

Since the creation of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), the EU has been at the forefront of international support for peace and security in Africa by providing funding through the African Peace Facility (APF), particularly to Peace Support Operations (PSOs).

Capacity Building has steadily become an increasingly important part of the APF since the APF’s establishment in 2003. The objective of this component is to increase the capacity of the African Union (AU) and Regional Economic Communities/Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs) to operationalise the APSA as well as to plan and conduct PSOs.
